Achieving Fuller-Looking Lips Without Painful Plumpers

Hola Chicas~! How’s everyone today??? I’m Baaaack~!!!! Its been a long time, right??? Definitely TOO long!!! ;) I took some time off  because we ended up dealing with a lot of the “sickies” – my kids got bronchitis and the stomach flu! But I’m happy to report, we are now officially “germ-free”!!! YAY~~!!!! And, ahhh so great to be back my friends!!!

Today I’m bringing you an article I’ve been wanting to do for a very loooong time! Its all about plumping up those lips~!!! I don’t know about you ladies, but I have to say I’ve tried several different kinds of plumpers! And although there are a couple that do work (I’ll talk about those in a future article), what I find is that, while they may plump up your lips – its only temporary! And another downfall for me is that its really hard to find a plumping product that actually works, while also delivering a nice color to the lips!

That’s right ladies, I like my colorful lipsticks! And not only that – I like my lipsticks to have a good amount of staying power.  The less maintenance I have to do, while always keeping myself looking glam is definitely the key! If I can apply it once – and enjoy long-lasting staying power – I’m a happy CHICA!!!

So naturally I’ve tried using lipliners to slightly overdraw the lips, then pairing it with lipstick. And while this gives you a great look immediately, after eating a meal you are left with an unsightly ring of lipliner and your lipstick has left the building~! So frustrating!

That’s when I went to my local drugstores/Sephora/Ulta in search of these elusive product(s).  I will tell you, the following tips/and products I use don’t actually plump your lips up – but what they do is give you the appearance of fuller-looking, plumper lips~! That’s why you don’t have to suffer with the painful stinging of the plumping products! So on my quest for plumper lips and marathon wearing lipstick, besides discovering which brands deliver long-lasting color, I also discovered which products pair very well to acheive plumper-looking lips, and some important tips! Do you know what I found out????

First Start With a Long Wearing Lipstick

My fave? Definitely Maybelline 24 Hour SuperStay!

I kind of didn’t expect that, to be honest. Cause I’d tried other brands without much success, finding some of the other brands really dry out your lips and leave the lipstick flaking off. And although Maybelline is my fave and definitely my top choice for staying power, there a couple of other brands that also deserve honorable mention! And I’ll give you ladies the VIP Lipstick Long-Wearing List in an upcoming article~! ;) (I know, I’m such a tease, right??? lol) I definitely have the “down-low” on the long wearing lipsticks, because you name it – and I’ve tried it!!!

These three are from the Maybelline Superstay Line.

On the left is, Maybelline Superstay 24 hour  in Lasting Lilac. Its a gorgeous hot pink, magenta hue!
In the middle
is Maybelline Superstay 24 hour in All Day Cherry. This gorgeous, deep red is what converted me from never wearing red lipstick – to LOVING red lipstick! If you’ve never tried deep, red lips – you must try it! Its all about finding the right shade, and once you do – you’ll be hooked!!!
On the right is, Maybelline Superstay 14 hour Lipstick in Perpetual Peony. And while I love Perpetual Peony, it isn’t as long lasting as the 24 hour line – which is no surprise seeing as how its called “14 hour” vs the “24 hour” title on the left two lipsticks. If you’re looking for maximum staying power – definitely stick with the “24 Hour” line!!!

Apply Your Long Wearing Lipstick to Dry, Bare Lips

Make sure you apply your long wearing lipstick to dry, bare lips. You definitely want to skip lip liner for this! What happens if you apply lipliner underneath? Your long-wearing lipstick adheres to the lip liner and doesn’t last long at all!!!  You want the lip liner adhered to your bare, dry lips/skin. This is KEY!!!

If you aren’t just looking for long-lasting color, but want the plumper look, slightly overdraw your lips with the long lasting lipstick. To do this, you must use one of the liquid, long-lasting formulations! You can’t use a regular lipstick, or it will bleed and will end up looking like a mess very quickly! With these liquid formulations, they dry very quickly and do not run at all! So you can most definitely overdraw your lips without fear of smudging/or bleeding! When overdrawing your lips, don’t go too crazy here – keep it just over your lip line. Similar to how you might use your lip liner. Once you’ve traced around your lips, fill them in with the same color. Maker sure you get an even, solid base of color! Here I’ve used Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay in “All Day Cherry”, and as you can see I’ve also overdrawn my lips to get a fuller looking pout~!

Time To Apply A Lipstick Overlay and Lip Gloss

Once your long lasting lipstick has completely dried, its now time to apply a lipstick overlay and/or lip gloss. If you are happy with the color of your long wearing lipstick, just apply a lip gloss! But sometimes I’ll want a slightly different color than what’s in the long-wearing tube, so I’ll get out a nude or red lipstick and apply it overtop. Then I’ll apply a lip gloss and instantly you have a new shade of ULTRA long wearing lipstick!!! So don’t be afraid to experiment ladies!!!

Change Up The Colors!

You can change up your long wearing shades so easily, without spending any extra $$$!!!! You only need 3 basic shades in your long-wearing lipstick wardrobe - a  nude, a red, and a pink shade of long wearing lipstick. With these three basic shades, you can change the colors up so easily, layering different colored lipsticks and highly pigmented glosses on top~!!! And we all have our fave lipsticks in our cosmetic bags!  If you just use a long-wearing base, then layer your fave lipstick on top, you’ve instantly created a long wearing version of your fave lipstick!!

You’ll see in the first picture, I’ve “swatched” Forever Chestnut on my hand 3 times. But in all three pictures,  Maybelline Superstay 24 Hour Color in Forever Chestnut (a perfect nude shade for my lips) is the base I’ve used. Everyone will have a different “nude” shade that will perfectly suit the color of their lips! Don’t be afraid to pick up a couple on sale at Rite Aid, Ulta or Walgreens – they all have wonderful return policies that make it “no risk” for us consumers! So if you aren’t happy with the colors – you aren’t stuck with them!

In the middle pictures I’ve layered some of my favorite lipsticks on top! On the left I applied Mac Blankety Lipstick - a beautiful taupey, pink nude shade. In the middle, I layered Maybelline Superstay 10 Hour Stain Gloss in Fresh Fuschia – a perfect, true “hot pink”! And on the right, I layered Wet n Wild Lip Laquer in Enamored – a gorgeous bubblegum pink.

In the bottom pictures, you see the colors layered with lip gloss on top. On the left, I applied Maybelline ShineSensational Lip Gloss in Cherry Bloom – an almost irridescent pearly pink. In the middle I applied Maybelline ShineSensational Lip Gloss in Berry Dazzle – a sparkly, deep plum. And on the right, I applied NYX Lip Gloss in Pink Frost - a soft, cool, bubblegum pink.

So you see how a “nude” long wearing color can be transformed into any color you want??? By layering lipstick and/or lipgloss, you add so much dimension and depth to your lip color. Also think of all the colors you can create, don’t think you are limited to the shades you find in the store!! Think of those shades as bases for NEW and FUN colors you can create~!!! And I’m sure you ladies have all the tools in your makeup kit to achieve this! All you need is some long wearing lipstick!!!  Keep it creative with your makeup Chicas~!!! ;)

Apply Lip Gloss After EACH and EVERY Meal

And this is KEY!!! You MUST always apply lip gloss after each meal, if you want your color to last the day without flaking! Because even the best of long-wearing formulations won’t hold out, unless we keep that lipstick covered with gloss!!! I normally apply my long-wearing lipstick in the morning around 8am – and its still going strong by 9pm that night! But I always keep a lipgloss in my pocket or purse.

Find a Lip Gloss That’s High In Shine and Rich in Pigment

I never use the lip gloss end attached to the long-wearing lipstick. I’m always on the look-out for moisturizing, high-shine, and high-pigment glosses! They are a wonderful pairing for the long wearing lipsticks, and may even contribute to their staying power~!!! And another positive, is that these little beauties are very inexpensive - and they will transform the look of your long wearing lipstick~!  Using a great gloss over top of your lipstick will also add to the effect of having fuller-looking lips!!!  If you want to see a my some of my fave lip glosses, they are on my VIP Beauty Products Post – Best in Beauty for your Buck~!!! As you can see above – these lip glosses are some of my all time faves – thanks Wet n Wild, ULTA, Bonne Bell and Maybelline~!!!! xoxo

Does Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Really Last???

Just to illustrate how LONG lasting Maybelline Superstay is, this picture says “1000 words”.  After I’d applied the Superstay color to my hand, then applied the different lipsticks, then the different glosses, I took one of my kitchen cleansing wipes and used the abrasive side to wipe my hand “clean. Well after I’d wiped my hand, I was STILL left with the Superstay Color on my hands – it took off all the lipstick and gloss! But not the Superstay!!! It actually took me a lot of scrubbing to get it off my hands!!! Yes, I surely do love my long lasting lip colors!!! Although I will say, after wearing it 12+ hours, it won’t take that much effort to remove your lipstick, so don’t worry ladies!!! You aren’t going to have to rub your lips raw to remove it!

Here I’ve used Maybelline Superstay in All Day Cherry in the first 2 pictures, and in the far right picture I’ve used Forever Chestnut. As you can see, what you layer it with, will ultimately decide the color you want~!!! So don’t be afraid to experiment with colors, textures, and finishes!!! And don’t be discouraged if you find you don’t love Maybelline Superstay as much as I do – we all have different needs with regards to our skin. So just play around with different brands, and you’ll ultimately find the right one for your needs~!!!

Do you have a favorite brand of long wearing lipstick you love? I’d love to hear about it!! That’s what this is all about – sharing our trials and triumphs!!! Hopefully we can learn from eachother’s trials and find new and fun products to try~!!!

We’re Making Lip Scrubs with Nature’s Garden!

Welcome to another edition of Tutorial Wednesday~! Today we’re making some moisturizing and exfoliating Lip Scrubs with Nature’s Garden!!! These Lip Scrubs are a luxurious treat for the lips – giving your lips natural exfoliation while also hydrating them! Add to that, the fact that these Lip Scrubs are so easy to make, and don’t have all the extra added chemicals that you find in the products at the stores! So stick with me, and check out this step-by-step process – maybe you’ll find something new to add to your repertoire~!

Have you ever made your own beauty products? I’m still officially a newbie in the world of making beauty products, however I can now say I’ve made a few! The first item I made was Homemade Lip Balm, and I made that a few weeks ago with the Nature’s Garden Lip Balm Kit. Then last week we made Sexy Edible Massage Bars with Nature’s Garden Products and their recipe too! SO much fun!!! If you haven’t seen those recipes and tutorial – you should check them out!! :)

Let’s Rewind Shall We…

Before I get into making the Lip Scrubs, you might be wondering “Who is Nature’s Garden?”. If you’ve never been introduced to the world of homemade soaps, beauty products and candles – then you may not have heard of them. Nature’s Garden supplies the products you need to create SO many different products from candles, to all kinds of soaps, sprays, lotions and SO much more!!! You can find out more about their company, how it came to be, and even read an interview with the CEO herself – Miss Deborah Ward by checking out the article I did a couple weeks back entitled “Nature’s Garden – A Company that CARES“!

Ok, Let’s Make Some Lip Scrub!!!!

First thing I did is make sure my counters were sanitized, my hands impeccably clean, and set out all my supplies and the Lip Scrub Recipe!

Now I set my measuring cup on my scale and used the “tare” feature to set it back to zero, then measured both 1 oz of Lip Balm Base and 1 oz of Sugar. Now I have to point out how awesome this Lip Balm Base is – its natural and has no chemicals! The ingredients are: coconut oil, bees wax, organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, tocopherol (vitamin e)!!! I love that!!! And by the way, if you buy the Lip Balm Base and have extra base leftover, there are a multitude of uses for this product!  You can create Lotion Bars, Massage Bars, Solid Perfumes, all natural vapor rubs and MUCH more~! All with that 1 product!!

Once you’ve measured out 1 oz of the Lip Balm Base, put it in the microwave for short 30 second bursts. That way you won’t overheat the base, just heat it until fully melted like the picture on the right.

After you base is fully melted, add 1 oz sugar and stir well. Next add 4 drops of the flavor oil - I used Green Apple Blast. Its described as: the aroma of the tart, green apples with an extra blast and is also Phthalate free. This and other “Flavor Oils” work in lip balms, massage oils, body sprays, perfumes, bath/body products, and pet bath products. You should definitely check out their Flavor Oils – they have some amazing flavors: Creme Brulee, Bubblegum, Cinnamon Rolls, Buttercream Cupcake, Frozen Margarita, and many more!!!

Now its time to add our lip tint! I used just a little of the “Prissy Pink” lip tint! And let me tell you – its a beautiful hot pink shade! Once you drop in the tint – mix well until its fully incorporated.

You are now ready to pour your mixture into your lip balm tubes! They set up pretty fast – which surprised me! It doesn’t take long at all! This recipe made 11 yummy tubes~!

I swatched it on my hand here for you all to see! It really does feel super moisturizing (thanks to the lip balm base), but yet with gentle exfoliation (thanks to the sugar), and smells divine! Its a wonderful product that I find myself using often!!! It feels so luxurious~! When you think about how little time it took to whip up this recipe – and it makes 11 tubes!!! You’d be set for a long time if you kept them - or you can make them and give them away as gifts~!

How fun was that??? I loved it!!! And if you are interested in making your own homemade beauty products, Nature’s Garden has a Cosmetic Recipes Section, a Soap Making Section and a Candle Making Section of their website! So whichever tickles your fancy – you’ll find it there for sure~!

I was perusing the Cosmetic Making Recipes section, and I found a couple that look super fun! You can make Solid Lotion Bars, Body/Room sprays, Bamboo&White Grapefruit Shampoo Bars, Strawberry Milkshake Bath Bombs, and even some Bling Bling Lip Gloss~!!!! Uhhh….I think I’m in LOVE~!!!  I just have to say – Deborah if you are reading this, I’m available to make more products~!!! ;) haha

So what did you think? Is this something you might try??? I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!!! Thanks for sticking with me, for this creative little adventure together~! Its been so much fun and I think has opened up a whole new world for me!!!

You all know how passionate I am about making things from scratch, whether its recipes, crafts, and now beauty products!! The health benefits make it so worthwhile, and when you add to that, that you are getting a higher quality product; you can’t go wrong!!!

If you think you’d be interested in these homemade products but aren’t interested in making them – you can go on over to The Happy Handcrafters Network and find tons of businesses that sell amazing products~! Happy Handcrafters is also a forum for people to share all things related to soap making, candle crafting, cosmetic making, bath and body, general crafting, recipes, AND even has a Business Information section!!! It is such an amazing resource in a multitude of areas!!! There is honestly something for everyone there~!

Oh, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Miss Susanne over at Passionfruit Island - she creates amazing and beautiful bath and body creations~! And one more shout out to an awesome friend that creates gorgeous and unique jewellry, Miss Deanna over at Aqua Dragonfly Creations~! Just a couple shout outs for now! ;) I’ll have to do many more at a later date~!

Till next time my Blog Beauties – keep those lips exfoliated, while also keeping them moisturized, as long as you keep it homemade~! xoxo

We’re Making Sexy Edible Massage Bars with Nature’s Garden!

Are ya ready for it??? Doesn’t this sound like fun??? Yes my friends, this is our “Weekly How-To” with Nature’s Garden!! Aaaand this week we are making Sexy Edible Massage Bars~!!!

Now if you haven’t seen the past couple of articles I’ve done with Nature’s Garden, you’ll definitely have to check them out! A couple of weeks ago I did an article on the background and an overview of Nature’s Garden, which also features an interview with the CEO herself – Miss Deborah Ward!!! And last week we made Homemade Lip Balms with Nature’s Garden products and their recipe!!!

Now that you are all caught up, let’s get right down to business! Time to make these little beauties!!!

First things first, get your station all set up! I made sure to sanitize everything and use impeccably clean hands!

Now to make the Chocolate Lips for the top of the bar! Place your dish on the scale and use the tare feature to set it to zero.  Then add 1 small square of Dark Chocolate, along with a small amount of the lip balm base and beeswax.  The ingredients in the lip balm base are are: coconut oil, bees wax, organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, tocopherol (vitamin e). Now I just have to say, I’m loving what’s in that lip balm base!!! Its so natural and moisturizing and no chemicals (which are often in store bought products)!!!

Melt the chocolate, lip balm base and beeswax in the microwave in short 30 second increments. Once melted, pour into the lips mold and set it in the freezer.

While the chocolate sets up in the freezer, time to make the Solid Edible Massage Bar! Add 3 ounces of Lip Balm Base by weight, then add 1/8 ounce Beeswax.

Microwave the mixture in short 30 second increments until fully melted.

Once fully melted, add 8 drops of flavoring and 1/2 package of powdered stevia. We’re using the Black Cherry Boom Flavor Oil, and it smells AMAZING!!! Which I’ll just let you know, I’m not a cherry person at all, but I absolutely adore this!! Even my husband likes it!!! The description on the Nature’s Garden website is: The aroma of ripened black bing cherries. YUMMY!!!

Now its time to fill your container! Pour into your lotion bar container until there is 1/8 left to fill. Put it aside and allow it to set at room temperature.

While your lotion bar is setting up – go ahead and check on your chocolate lips. If its fully set, pop it out of your mold and set aside. How cute are those lips??? And look at the shine on them!!!

Now pour the remaining melted lotion into your lotion bar container and quickly apply your lips. Now allow it to fully set up.

And VOILA~! We’re done!! A beautiful homemade Sexy Edible Massage Bar - easily made in your own kitchen!

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE making things (recipes, crafts, etc) and this is NO exception!! Making homemade lotions/lip balms has been so much fun! And just as important, I’m so impressed with the end result! This lotion bar is a rich, luxurious, moisturizing bar that can be enjoyed by you and your spouse~! I actually used it on my hands, and I loved how moisturized my hands stayed. With Winter being so dry, I’m always reaching for lotion and I’m finding the lotions I’ve purchased from the store moisturize your hands for only a short amount of time.  I would definitely love to make these lotion bars again, and when I run out of my current one, I think I might have too~! ;)

These Lotion Bars would also be a great thing to throw in your purse, especially when travelling when you aren’t allowed to keep liquids over a certain amount. No worries here, as it is a solid lotion! And the wonderful thing about making these, is you can customize it to suit your needs – if you don’t like cherry – Nature’s Garden has a great selection of different Flavor Oils! So there’s always something for everyone~!

Also, Nature’s Garden has tons of other fun recipes and projects for you to try out! There are wonderful Cosmetic Recipes, yummy Soap Recipes , and interesting and unique Candle Recipes~!

Well now that I’ve made the Lotion Bars and the Lip Balms, I would definitely have to rate both of them 5 out of 5 stars!!! Honestly both have turned out to be amazing quality products!! I’d like to say a big Thank YOU to Nature’s Garden and Miss Deborah Ward! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this process and am very grateful to them for introducing me to this whole new world of making homemade body products!!!

Tune in next week for another “How To” segment with Nature’s Garden where I’ll make an all new homemade beauty product! What will that product be??? Come back next week and find out!!! ;)

Till next time Chicas (and Chicos), keep it fun, keep it creative and always keep it homemade~! xoxo

Homemade Lip Balm with Nature’s Garden!

Hi beauties~! How are you today? I’m SUPER excited to reveal this post to you today about making homemade lip balm~! Remember I talked in a previous post about Nature’s Garden, that I was going to be making some homemade beauty products? About a week ago I wrote an article describing in greater depth the story behind Nature’s Garden and included a great interview with the CEO Deborah Ward! If you haven’t seen it, you can check it out here! The story behind how Nature’s Garden came to be is very interesting! Well today is the day – we’re going to make Lip Balm!!!

How many of you have ever made homemade beauty products?  I’m definitely a “newbie”! This being my very first time, and I have to say it was easy and SO much fun! Many of you may be asking how did I come up with this idea? Well, I have to say I can’t take the credit! The lovely Deborah Ward (CEO) from Nature’s Garden Wholesale Candle and Soap Supplies asked if I would be willing to try making this product (and some more - to come in future posts) and to show you the process. And I LOVED it! Being able to make a better quality and more natural product than what you find in the stores really appealed to me! And I love all things beauty, creative, and crafty! As you all know, right???

The great thing about making your own beauty products is you get to control what you put in them! Whether its more or less fragrance or flavoring, staying away from certain ingredients, or adding others that have health benefits! The sky is the limit! And I don’t know about you ladies, but I love to make things. ALL things! I’ve always loved being creative, and I’ve tried SO many different crafts! You could definitely say I’m a “Craft Store” regular. Although I’ve never tried making beauty products, the idea definitely fascinated me.

In the last several years I’ve also become passionate about getting away from store bought “pre-made” foods. Choosing instead to make items homemade that you would normally buy at the store (ie Granola Bars, Trail Mix Bars, muffins etc). The health benefits alone are so worth it – getting away from all the chemicals was the main reason. Another big bonus is, that homemade items always taste better than store bought doesn’t hurt! So the idea that I could “cook up” homemade beauty products in my own kitchen that are more natural and tailored to my needs sounded amazing! And when the opportunity arose to make these products, I was thrilled!

Are You Ready to Make Some Lip Balm?

This is what the Lip Balm Kit looks like – and when I recieved it I couldn’t wait to get into it and start making them! The ingredients you’ll need for this are: Lip Balm Base, Containers, Pipettes, Scale, Liquid Lip Tint, Lip Flavoring, Stevia Sweetener, Mica Pigment, and the recipe card! Nature’s Garden also has several more cosmetic recipes, soap recipes, and candle recipes on their website!

I began by sanitizing my counters.  Then set everything up, so I could easily reach for anything as I needed it.

Here are all the cute, little containers ready to be filled! I sanitized these with rubbing alcohol also, just to be thorough! ;)

Now I’m ready to start adding the Lip Balm Base to the container on the scale to get the exact measurements by weight. I put my container on the scale, then used the tare function to get it back to zero again before you start weighing your base.

Time to add your base! When I read the ingredients on the base, I loved what I saw! Its natural! The ingredients in the base are coconut oil, bees wax, organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, and tocopherol (vitamin e)! Don’t you love that?

After getting just the right amount of base, I microwaved it in 30 second intervals until it was fully melted and in a liquid form. Here you see I’m adding the “Prissy Pink” liquid colorant to the melted lip balm base. Add a couple of drops – to your desired color level and stir.

Now its time to add the Stevia Sweetener to the mixture. Mix well so it dissolves nicely.

Now its time to add the flavoring! I used the “Monkey Farts” flavoring oil! I know, it sounds odd, right? But it smells so yummy! To give you, lovely blog readers, a better idea of what this smells/tastes like, here is the description on the Nature’s garden website: the aroma of our famous Monkey Farts flavoring begins with top notes of fresh bananas and juicy grapefruit, middle notes of kiwi, juicy bubblegum, and strawberries; with a hint of vanilla as a base note. Now, doesn’t that sound delicious???

Now its time to add a dash of Mica Pigment and stir well to incorporate into the mixture! This will give a pretty shimmer/sheen to your lip balm. Remember to work quickly as this sets up pretty fast. Althought if it starts setting up on you prematurely, go ahead and put it back in the microwave for 15-25 seconds at a time.

Now that all of the ingredients are added and mixed, its time to use the little pipettes to fill the containers! I used the pretty little black daisy pots and some clear ones too! They set up very quickly, within a half hour! Although that will depend on the size of containers that you use.

Aaaand here they are~!!!! They turned out wonderfully! Not too shabby for my first time, right? It was definitely easy to make, and a lot of fun! And I’ve been enjoying using my new lip balm, its so moisturizing without being sticky or waxy! It honestly doesn’t feel like the kind you get in the store, the ones that leave a waxy residue on your lips. I was impressed! Do you want to see what it looks like?

I applied it over my Maybelline Superstay lipstick, and it kept my lips very nicely moisturized, while also feeling lightweight!  I’ll definitely be sharing these with some friends and getting their feedback as well! If you ladies end up making the lip balms, you’ll have several! So you can either keep them for yourselves, or package them up for gift giving as well~! Also making them from home, aside from the wonderful quality – they are also a great value!!!

I hope you enjoyed this very special post on “How To Make Lip Balm”! Big thanks to Deborah and the whole Nature’s Garden team for their help, support and wonderful products! I’m excited to make some MORE new and unique beauty products! So stay tuned, as I’ll feature another “How To” article on the process of making a different beauty product next time~! What will that beauty product be???? You’ll just have to come back and see my friends~! ;)

Thanks for taking this adventure with me – I hoped you enjoyed it, and maybe gained some inspiration and ideas from this! Are there any specific products you’d like to see me make? Let me know! I always love hearing your feedback! Until next time friends, keep it creative, keep it natural and always keep it homemade~! xoxo

A Wild and Exotic Manicure Reveal – Kiss Nail Dress Review

Hey Chicas – how’s you day going? Its a beautiful, sunny (albeit cold) day  – but no complaints here! I love the sunshine, just puts you in a good mood and is a little reminder that Spring is coming!

I just recieved some products from Kiss Nails and I’m so excited to bring you this post and reveal my “Wild Manicure”!

Here you see three packages of Kiss Nail Dress, 3 packages of Impress Manicure, Kiss Everlash MD Eyelash Enhancing Serum and Brow Enhancing Serum.

I’ll be bringing you reviews of the Impress Manicure and Everlash MD Eyelash and Brown Enhancing Serums in upcoming posts! So stay tuned for that~! I’m excited to try both products, they look fabulous!

Now I’m not sure if you guys read my previous post on Wham Bam Instant Glam? In that post I talk about the different nail enamel strips and the pros and cons of each. Well as you saw, Kiss Nail Dress is my absolute fave! For several reasons, one being that it lasts the longest of all the nail strips I’ve tried,  I find these don’t start “chipping” like some of the other brands do! And I’m definitely hard on my nails – playing with the kids (and their legos) , doing dishes and cleaning etc, all of which isn’t very manicure friendly! Also they come with 28 strips in each package which is a GREAT deal, the most strips per package of any set I’ve ever found. They’re easy to apply and easy to take off and you aren’t dealing with the regular nail polish smell! Definitely instant glam for us ladies~!

First thing I did was “prep” my nails. Filing them, taking care of the cuticles and buffing them.

Once they were adequately prepped, I applied a base coat. I use Nail Life Gripper from Sally Beauty Supply.

I applied the Zebra print to all of my nails except the ring fingers on both my hands, where I put one different strip from the other package. Makes for a fun and interesting manicure! I always love having either a different color or pattern on my ring fingers of both hands! If you want you can alternate regular polish with these strips, if the first time around you want a more subdued manicure. But I have to say I love “Wild” nails! When applying these, I’ll apply the strip to the nail bed and then cut off the excess; which I’ll apply to a nail on my other hand. So I only need 1 strip for 2 nails! Total strips used for this manicure is only 5!!! Not too shabby ;) ! And don’t be afraid to trim the cuticle portion when applying it to your other hand, because it may be to wide, which is such an easy fix! Make sure to press down and smooth them out well, then file the ends off.

After you’ve applied all your strips, apply a top coat.

And it’s done, my wild and exotic manicure! Do you like it???  One thing that’s such a bonus, is when you are ready to remove them, they just peel off! Which I didn’t know the first time I went to take them off, and I was so shocked! Having them come off so easily – yet stay on your nails SO long and so well! Don’t know what kind of adhesive they use – but its amazing~! ;) The smell of nail polish remover bothers a lot of people, so this is a great option for those of you who have that issue (like my mom ;) )!

Big Kudos to Kiss Nails for creating these fabulous products for us ladies to stay looking glam so effortlessly and affordably~! I was at my son’s Football practice tonight and I got so many compliments and inquiries on my manicure – they are definitely a hit! I also wanted to mention, these packages come with wide enough strips that work perfectly for doing pedicures, so you can do either or both – a matching Mani/Pedi~! I’m excited to see what new designs they come out with next! I hope they expand their line to include some solid colors and of course more patterns! I love my patterns~!

Oh and before I forget, I want to remind you ladies Kiss is having a giveaway on their Facebook Fan Page – when you go to there, click the “Freebies” tab on the left hand side. Or, you can go there directly from my site, by clicking the “Kiss Giveaway” banner on the top right hand side of my website! That way you can enter for a chance to score some of these little beauties! Keep your eyes peeled, as I’ll be bringing you reviews of the Impress Manicure and the Brow and Eyelash Enhancing Serums – always my honest and objective opinions! Till next time Chicas – keep it wild, keep it exotic and always keep it glam~! xoxo
